IRISA-TB™
Test for Extra-Pulmonary Tuberculosis

IRISA™-TB addresses this problem
IRISA™-TB addresses this problem

IRISA-TB™ has shown optimal performance in EPTB compartments (sensitivity range from 84% – 97%) and the technology employed here is more specific (range from 95% – 99%) with an NPV of 94% compared to the ADA test currently used in endemic countries. Furthermore, it is rapid (90 minutes from sample to result), lending itself to same day diagnosis.

The leading diagnostic test for extra-pulmonary TB

  • Results are available in less than 2 hours,
  • Sensitivity of 91% and specificity of 96%.
  • Available in a removable 8 well strip format thus minimizing wastage and enabling performance of single patient assays.
  • No sample preparation required before analysis

IRISATM -TB, is designed to rapidly and accurately detect extra-pulmonary TB in several body compartments, including pleural, pericardial, ascitic and cerebrospinal fluid using a clinically validated assay.

It differs from tests using expectorated sputum such as smear microscopy, culture, and nucleic acid amplification tests which all perform poorly in TB of the pleural space, TB abdomen or TB ascites, TB meningitis.

Novel biomarkers for the detection of TB have been discovered and are being deployed into new diagnostic tools.

Ultra-sensitive detection platforms are being developed for the rapid diagnosis of TB. These point-of-care devices employ a simple, inexpensive yet accurate and sensitive platform for patient diagnosis including EPTB.

We are currently commercialising transmission-mapping technology for infectious diseases spread by the aerosol route, for example, TB and Influenza.

Antrum is also engaged in the development and distribution of various other medical technologies related to the respiratory and infectious diseases field.
